My FAVORITE Valentine's Day Cookie

I love baking and this is my FAVORITE cookie recipe ever. I actually got this recipe when I was taking home education in my 9th grade class from my teacher Ms. Garvin. I made these for my first boyfriend as a Valentine gift. He loved them.

This recipe is good for anytime or make them for every holiday. Quick, easy and even fun for kids!

I chose to use hearts because Valentine's Day is right around the corner but you can use whatever decorating tips, sprinkles, cutters you want. I wish I could of found valentines heart sprinkles or something, but this is what was avaliable, you know I like to be more creative. :) The ideas with this recipe are ENDLESS. My family and I like these cookies with or without frosting.

Sour Cream Cut-Out Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 egg
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch of salt

Oven at 350 degrees and bake for 6 to 8 minutes

I lined my cookie sheets with tin foil, or use non stick pans or parchment paper.

LET's BAKE!

Step1: Soften the butter by placing in the microwave for 30 seconds, then mix in the remaining ingrediants, except for the flour.

Step 2: Mix in 1 cup at a time of the flour, until all 3 1/2 cups are blended in.

Step 3: Flour your prep area and roll out the dough into 1/4 inch.

Step 4: Cut out your shapes and place on a nonstick bake surface.
I made all different sized hearts and decided I wanted to make some of them sandwich cookies, so I sprinkled some of the tops of the cookies before I placed in the oven, I like a variety of cookie looks.

These cookies don't over expand so whatever shape you cut, is what you are going to get and you can place more on your pan. :) Made 4 cookie sheets of cut outs.
Step 5: Bake at 350 for 6 to 8. Give them a nice tan and they are finished. Let cool, and eat! or add frosting and sprinkles. HAVE FUN with it. <3

This frosting is also great for cakes. This is also from my 9th grade class. I still use it to this day and probably will forever!
<<<Use only half of this recipe if you are baking the above cookie recipe!! or you will have enough for another batch.. hahaha or a full sized cake>>>

White Frosting for Decoracting and Icing
1 1/2 Cup Shortening
splash of Water
1 TB of White Vanilla or Almond
1 TB Lemon Juice
2 Egg Whites
2 lbs (1 bag) powdered sugar

Happy Valentine's Day dolls <3
Stay Glamorous,
Lindsay
