How to Build a Skin Care Routine + My AM Routine

No matter if you’re a pro or a beginner, building a skincare routine is tough and we second that! The good part is, you’re searching for a solution to get it treated, why else would you be here then? Don’t worry, we got your back and we can help you build a skincare routine that targets your skin concerns and works around your skin type.

Take the right steps to build a skincare routine

It is of utmost importance to take the right steps in the right direction when building a skincare routine because one misfall and you’re left with inflamed skin. You wouldn’t want products to cause any reactions to your skin, and we wouldn’t either. So dig in and find out the necessary steps you should take to build a skincare routine that fits you!

1. Identify your Skin Type

While most people debate about having 3 or 4 skin types, we believe once you identify what skin type you are, everything else then becomes really easy, real fast.

So we have, Oily, Combination, Dry, and Sensitive skin types. What are they? Let’s find out.

Oily – It is when your oil glands produce more sebum than most normal skins. You choose the right foundation shade but once you turn up to an event, your foundation turns grey. You use sunblock and your skin becomes an oil mine. Even during winters, you have to use cleanser/face wash every day because there’s just too much oil on your skin – YES, YOU HAVE AN OILY SKIN TYPE

When your foundation turns grey, it’s called oxidization. What happens is your oil glands are producing sebum more than normal so you have to find a way to replace the overproduction of sebum with hydrating molecules. It is that simple. 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid is the best serum when it comes to lock-in essential moisture. Make sure the products you’re using contain hyaluronic acid. Also, starting with strong acids won’t be a good idea for oily skin types since it oxidizes fast on your skin, start slow and low.

Combination – There are a number of options when it comes to having a combination skin type. You can have an oily t-zone but dry cheeks and the rest of your face and vice versa. You can just have a dry forehead and the rest of the face produces more oil than anything. Your foundation or sunblock is subtle at every place but cracks on dry patches. You might even get flaky dry parts – It’s okay!

What you have to do is, as the name indicates, use a combination of products. Since you stand in the middle of two extremities, to made peace with your skin you have to use products that suit both Oily and Dry Skin Type. Using non-greasy oil like Squalane Oil is what’s made particularly for your skin type. It will keep your skin hydrated where it’s needed and work on the dry parts simultaneously. Moreover, using 100% Pure Hyaluronic Acid to lock in essential moisture all over the skin and Coenzyme q10 or moisturizer or oil on flaky parts.

Dry – Rarely do people have a sensitive dry skin types, most of the time when you have dry skin, you can literally use any product on your skin without it causing any adverse reaction. If you have a dry skin, you’d know it. There’s nothing explaining it much.

In this case, you need heavy moisturizers all year long especially during winters because if you don’t, you’ll age early. You need to see the products you’re using on your skin contains moisturizing ingredients because you wouldn’t want something stripping moisture off your skin, would you? If your skin is dehydrated and you don’t have any option but to use products that reduces oil, make sure to use them with argan oil or a heavy moisturizer.

Sensitive –  You know you have it if you get pimples even if you touch your face with a foreign object. But it’s not difficult to treat, trust me. All you need is to have the right products and you can have a clear skin all year long.

When using actives, go for the lightest potencies. Use vitamin c with 5% percentage or 10% percentage, it won’t break you out. Hyaluronic Acid is really good for your skin type but you have to find out if you have sensitive dry skin type or sensitive oily or sensitive combination.

2. Identify your Skin Concern

The most important part is to identify your underlying skin concerns. You may be fine with pimples popping every week but its not right and its not normal. You can treat it at home and we can help you with just that. Here are a list of skin concerns that will you build a skincare routine for you.

Hyperpigmentation, Discoloration, Acne Scars, Dark Spots – If you have either of these, regardless of what others say, don’t build a skincare routine that is so heavy that your skin starts breaking out. The simple solution to Hyperpigmentation, Discoloration, Two tone skin, Acne Scars, Acne marks and Dark spots is Vitamin C! The best time to apply Vitamin c is in the m morning and keep it on for 3-4 hours then wash it off with a 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser. Yes, its that easy. If the marks are too stubborn, using 0.5mm Dermaroller four times in a week is the best bet.

Acne – The most difficult yet the easiest. If you religiously follow the skincare routine you’ve built for yourself, there’s no force that can pop acne on your skin. First you have to identify your skin type and once you do, you have to treat the over-production of sebum if you have an oily skin with Hyaluronic Acid, you have to treat the extra dried out skin with Argan Oil or you have to treat your combination dry and oily problem with Hyaluronic Acid and Coenzyme q10 during summers and Squalane oil during winters.

Dehydrated Skin – To quench thirst of your dehydrated skin, always go for products with Hyaluronic Acid. If you have an oily skin, you don’t need to use anything with HA but if you have a dry or combination skin, you might want to consider using a moisturizing medium otherwise it will break you out. Reason? Hyaluronic Acid draws moisture from the internal and external environment, so if you don’t moisturize your skin, it will dry out the deeper layers and ultimately cause adverse reactions.

Here is my morning routine. Check out my video at the end of this post. Thank you.

Dossier Affordable Luxury Scents : Flower Bomb + Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Baccarat Rouge 540 Dupe

CRUELTY-FREE.
CLEAN INGREDIENTS.
NO MARK-UPS.

Discover quality fragrances inspired by the iconic scents you love - from $29. Unisex/Men/Women

PERFUME FOR ALL, NOT JUST THE 1%

We’re so over traditional perfume companies trying to convince us to spend $100+ on a bottle of perfume, aren’t you? If you’re nodding your head vigorously, we see you, we hear you, and oh yes, we feel you. It’s why we created Dossier—to bring you the iconic perfumes you love, all with that same luxe scent and high-quality feel, but without the celebrity endorsement fees, markups, or pricey packaging. Quality Perfume. No B.S. It’s that simple.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

As scent enthusiasts ourselves, we know all too well the struggle of finding a high-quality perfume that’s affordable.

When we realized how much behind-the-scenes action goes on in the perfume industry, a lightbulb went off! It was time to lift the veil on perfume creation and consumption, ushering in a new (smarter) way to shop. No more paying $100+ when the actual perfume itself only costs $2 to make… (yes, really).

We aim to do this by being transparent and honest about everything that we do. From giving you all the details on the sourcing of our ingredients to being upfront about our pricing, we may be going against the grain of how traditional perfume companies operate, but hey, as savvy consumers, we know you’re ready for something different from this industry.

TEAM GREEN + CLEAN

We never gave a second thought to our daily spritz of our favorite perfume. Until we took a closer look at the ingredient list, that is! Full of known toxic chemicals, we couldn’t believe we were subjecting ourselves to this on the daily. And oh, don’t even get us started on the amount of animal cruelty that is rampant in the perfume industry.

We had to do things differently. Cleaner than the “Sephora Clean List”, our perfumes are sourced using the highest-quality ingredients. We follow both U.S. and U.E recommendations when formulating our blends, and we NEVER test on animals.

We pride ourselves on being a clean, vegan, cruelty-free perfumery that is dedicated to quality and craftsmanship.

EN FRANÇAIS, S’IL VOUS PLAÃŽT?

Don’t worry, we’re not going to start talking to you in French, but France does run deep within our company. With five perfumers located in Grasse—the perfume capital of the world—and our nose/evaluator located in Paris, you can’t have Dossier without a touch of that French flair making its way into everything that we do.

Quick Fix: Leopard Print + Rainbow Selfie Wall

Just a quick makeover of a wall my landlord fixed in my rental. I decided to make a fun selfie wall and used my leopard skills to camo this awkward area. I just used some acrylic paints I found at walmart and joann. Thanks for checking out my fix.
